Foreword

"Please Date Me!", now known as "PDM Classic", was the first wholly original comic I ever made and published online. I had a few fan made one-shots and short lived strips here and there, but this was the first to use original characters and plots. The original intention was for it to detail the story of "Lou", a man down on his luck after being unable to play a new co-op video game popular around the world. Due to a push from his friend "Stu", he re-enters the dating world with the hopes of finally playing the game. As the series progressed we were supposed to see Lou's motivations evolve into a genuine quest for love, trapped in a battle for affection against different partners and learning about himself along the way, all told in a comedic fashion in a "gag-a-week" format.

However this did not end up being the direct PDM Classic would take. In an attempt to appeal to an audience I noticed taking interest in my art around the time, the comic quickly devolved into something lewd. Whilst it was always the plan to not shy away from the more intimate side of Lou's love life, original character designs were altered and story beats added in order to appeal to a group of people who were desperate for my work to go fully X-Rated. At the time, I didn't have a strong following so I was desperate for any form of support, even if that meant sacrificing the story I wanted to tell in order to add worm's eye angles of breasts or multiple issues involving fake-out sex scenes (I didn't even get to introduce the second love interest from the key art, her name is Cass by the way). It's what that audience wanted, and at the time I was happy to give it to them if it meant a consistent supply of support on my work.

Whilst I am in no means against the creation of adult content or using adult themes in my work, this direction is not where I want PDM to go moving forward, which is why I have separated these issues into a non-canon collection separate from the soon to release "PDM Reboot" that will tell the story I want to tell, as well as redesign some characters to better fit the new tone. I still felt like PDM Classic was worth preserving on this website. It still has it's fans, and I don't want to censor the past and act like I didn't originally begin the series in such a raunchy fashion. Please note that any future issues of this series will take place in a rebooted continuity in it's own category. But by all means, if this is your thing, please feel free to enjoy what was made for PDM Classic, even if you're just here out of morbid curiosity.
